The largest food rescue group in Canada, Second Harvest, is a world authority on the redistribution of perishable foods. We work to combat food loss and waste by redistributing food, doing research, raising awareness of the issue, and providing information. We also work together and continuously innovate to achieve a more sustainable globe. We collaborate with tens of thousands of food companies from all points along the supply chain, using technology and logistics to cut down on food waste and prevent needless greenhouse gas emissions from entering the atmosphere.
Role responsibilities:
In this position, you will assist the Head of Operations (Manitoba) in distributing extra, eatable food to the partners of neighborhood not-for-profit organizations. As a representative of Second Harvest, you will assist in distributing extra food to approved partner organizations throughout Manitoba's food donation locations.
Required skills:
- Minimum age of 16.
- A welcoming and professional demeanor, as well as top-notch customer service.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- The capacity to lift 30 to 50 lbs. Additional physical demands could include kneeling, squatting, lifting, reaching upwards, and bending.
- Possession of a current driver's license and access to a vehicle are assets.
*If you are under the age of 18, you will be required to have an adult volunteer accompany you during your shift.
Time commitment:
- Three-month minimum commitment - Winnipeg: Sun/ Mon/ Tues/ Thurs/ Fri, 7:30am-11:30am (weekly or biweekly) - Winnipeg/ Brandon: On-call basis
